Composed between the 8th and 11th centuries, The Tripartite Life of St. Patrick is the best-known vita of the great founder of the Irish church. Originally written in both Gaelic and Latin, the Tripartite Life was meant to be read in three parts over the three successive days of St. Patrick's festival. The text is drawn from the English translation of the eminent Irish philologist Whitley Stokes (1830-1909) and contains an original introductory essay by Phillip Campbell.
Also included in this volume are St. Patrick's Confession, his Letter to Coroticus, and the Metrical life of St. Patrick composed by his disciple, St. Fiacc.
